How the Internet is Revolutionizing Indie Cinema
An independent or ‘indie’ film is a film that has been produced largely without the help of major film studios. Indie films are usually (but not always) made on considerably smaller budgets and may differ stylistically from studio productions. In order to be considered indie, less than half of a film’s financing should come from a major studio. Though it may be harder for indie filmmakers to procure the budget to finance their projects, their freedom from the bureaucracy of major studios has enabled them to create highly original works that have enriched world cinema.
